Review of The Italian Job (1969) by Russell S — 06 Jul 2017
The second film in my run of watching films that influenced Baby Driver and this is another all time favourite of mine. Michael Caine leads the film in a great way as he is simultaneously a leader while also being comedic, the rest of the cast is decent, I love the score by Quincy Jones, the action is solid and all the planning of the robbery is utterly engrossing and fun to watch be played out.
The best parts of this film however are the scenes involving vehicles specifically the opening scene which is beautifully shot as a Lamborghini Miura is driven through the alps with the excellent song "On Days Like These" sung by Matt Monro playing until the untimely end of the driver and then the driving scenes that take part in the robbery are fun, exciting and incredibly well done.
