Review of The Italian Job (1969) by Bianca B — 17 Oct 2008
Enjoyed it, worth time watching. Comparing it to the remake, this one is funnier, but is less engaging, probably due to the greater intensity and modern technology in the remake. The car chase is a bit like keystone cops (how do those cops keep finding them?), which actually adds to the humor of this film. Benny Hill is Benny Hill. The in-prison celebration by the "boss" character is actually a bit silly. The remake has better "characters" in the team with the exception of Michael Cane, who is better than Wahlberg any day. The other characters are rather forgettable.
The ending is ... well I'll let you find out.
