Review of The Italian Job (1969) by Harold M — 30 May 2009
I'd forgotten just how great this film is. Certainly the best heist movier I've ever seen and Charlie Croker must be the coolest character in British film. Caine is brilliant. Coward is a superb Mr Biog and the little cameos dotted around are simply wonderful; Benny Hill re-doing Fred Scuttle as an intellectual (Professor Peach) is a joy to behold. There are so many brilliant touches in this film that it is worth seeing time an time again. I'll need to get the DVD. REMEMBER avoid the 2003 American tripe like the plague.
