Review of The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996) by Aidan S — 25 Feb 2007
A modern take on the classic H.G. Wells tale, this film is an undeniable spectacle, with its excellent creature effects and a particularly outrageous performance by Kilmer, yet it all comes across as an exercise in cheap thrills.
This is not the epic about the dangers of science gone too that it pretends to be. It's just a visceral action/horror schlockfest.
