After a very impressive title-sequence it is just downhill. Director John Frankenheimer is talented and has powerful style to direct, but the effects by Stan Winston are quite ropey and and at times the film turns just laughably absurd.
Kudos for Gary Changs effective score. Still it is a total mess.
