Review of The Invisible Woman (2013) by Francis M — 23 Apr 2014
I think Fiennes made the best film possible from the problematic script. Basically the film lacks an ending and, more importantly, a point. It's nothing more than a chronicle of a complicated 19th century affair that's only distinguished by the fact that it involved Charles Dickens.
Jones and Fiennes do give very strong performances, which makes the film even more disappointing because it glosses over lots of potentially interesting material (like Dickens' emotional collapse after the Staplehurst Rail Crash) that would have given the talented cast something more interesting to play.
