Review of The Innkeepers (2011) by Tim N — 13 Sep 2012
Questionable pacing, but a decent low budget effort on the director's part. No true scares, but a good level of tension. It is pretty much "what you see is what you get". I like how West embraces periods in time.
This felt very 90's horror compared to his 80's entry The House of the Devil. I see great potential that hasn't been fully realized in this writer/director. He brings a reality and recognition to his stories, but doesn't seem to be able to separate his love for homage from innovation.
