This movie is great. A boring title would be "What Happens When a Pathological Liar Cooperates With the FBI." It's a dark joy to watch unfold in front of you. The story is interesting, and all the more interesting because it's true, but the character is why the movie's good.
Damon plays him impeccably, nailing every expression and gesture. The movie is detailed and nuanced, and if you pay attention and interpret his actions, you can foresee some of the film's denouement.
Remembering the details helps you notice direct contradictions in what the character says, and that obviously adds to the depth of both his deceptions and his psyche. And it doesn't go out of its way to explain those little details to you.
It respects your intelligence. Anyway, a very funny character study with a bunch of great comedic actors in supporting roles. I highly recommend it.
