Review of The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) by Richard Y — 08 Sep 2007
Is it a mortality parable, or man feeling increasingly powerless in the atomic age? It's a great metaphor either way, but the film focuses more on adventure than ideas. Grant Williams' Carey becomes petualant and cold pretty quickly, but it's interesting to see publicity take a role in the film, and the oversized sets are surprisingly effective.
Worth a look.
