Review of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009) by Tyson P — 07 May 2013
As Heath Ledger's last film, the good Doctor had my attention. The outstanding cast aside, the film was a waste. The plot was so jumbled and unexplainable that the film was almost painful to watch at times.
The first half was slow and the worst pat by far. The graphics needed a lot of work to achieve the dreamlike feel that the director pined for. The film had very good moments surrounding the character "Tony", but the focus on Tony was scattered within Doctor Parnassus memories and Valentina's goals.
It needed to take a step back and find a focus before releasing it. High five to the great cast though. I have no complaints about Plummer, Garfield, Cole or any of the "Tony"s.
