The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus is directed by Terry Gilliam and if anyone is aware of his work they should know the kind of film to expect. This is a zany, quirky and offbeat production and the viewer's sensibilities and preferences will dictate whether he or she will enjoy the film.
It is a delight to look at, but Terry Gilliam's films have always polarized the audiences. Johnny Depp, Colin Farell and Jude Law fill in for Heath Ledger who tragically passed away during the filming but ultimately this is a Gilliam show through and through.
(Beware of certain aesthetic expectations).
