Review of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009) by Danica A — 18 Dec 2011
By far the best Terry Gilliam movie I've ever seen. I don't know if (didn't make me wanna kill myself) is the right way to rate a movie, but I guess that's how I rate the films d'Gilliam.
It's 123 mins didn't feel like the last 48 hours of my life like Tideland, Brazil and Fear and Loathing felt to me. And don't get me wrong. I LOVE weird and complex films, especially ones that make you think deeply.
But sometimes I feel Gilliam just is weird for the sake of being weird. Parnassus, however, has a great plot, acting, and underlying story. It made me laugh (singing cops in dresses!) and made me get really into the movie.
And the incredible effects didn't hurt much either. A very good one, watch if you can.
