Review of The Illusionist (2009) by Andrew W — 12 Feb 2011
Chomet captures the essence of Tati, and his mannerisms in this animation of an unmade Tati script. A mix of the absurd, the well observed and a healthy whiff of nostalgia permeate the film. It isn't as straight forward comic as his previous film (Belleville) as it incorporates a level of pathos as often seen in Tati's films.
Excellently done.
