Review of The Illusionist (2009) by Ian G — 27 Mar 2011
A very poignant film and well crafted in terms of its animation, a vaudevillian magician tries to sell himself and his stowaway companion the illusion the magic does indeed exist as he pursues to keep his career in the arts alive at the advent of new entertainment of rock n roll.
As with Triplets of Belleville, the film uses a minimal of dialogue and relies on traditionally drawn animation to tell the tale with distinctive characters done in a seemingly water color based style.
Awesome and makes me wish for more films to be still done in the classic form.
