Review of The Illusionist (2009) by Zaenal A — 21 May 2011
âIllusions commend themselves to us because they save us pain and allow us to enjoy pleasure instead. We must therefore accept it without complaint when they sometimes collide with a bit of reality against which they are dashed to pieces.â? Sigmund Freud.
Thereâ(TM)s room for both Pixarâ(TM)s rendered magic and this hand drawn beautiful quite and clear tale about a vaudeville magic performer not quite ready to be pushed off the stage and Alice the girl he enchants and in turn befriends him. From the animators who brought us the Triplets of Belleville. Edinburgh never looked so magical.
