Review of The Ice Storm (1997) by Hugh J — 09 Jul 2008
This is one of those movies that depends solely on the acting because aside from the greatness of pretty much everyone in this film, it really has nothing else going for it. The plot is unoriginal and boring.
The themes of a dysfunctional family feeling disconnected from one another has been done so many other times and way better like in 'American Beauty'. Plus the attempts at humour were just painful to watch and not funny.
And to be honest, as good as the acting was, I didn't really care about any of the characters. It gets points for holding my interest long enough to get me through the duration of the movie but I just didn't vibe to it overall.
