Review of The Ice Storm (1997) by Paul P — 30 Jul 2009
Touching the deep void of despair is hard to do on such a level. A beautifully adapted film from a very well written novel from Rick Moody, with the same title.
Some pretty cool 70's attire, and a somewhat honest recreation of the times. Above par acting.
I don't really care to analyze the story too much. There is a lot to cover, and it's best to just see it yourself for further details. I will finish by saying, that I did have a special moment with this film. It invoked some very raw emotion, and left me feeling incredibly empty and melancholy. As I was sitting on my futon still rocking my self back to life, I had a feeling of pure bliss overcome me and began laughing hysterically thinking of the Fantastic Four analogy made by Tobey Maguire's character. It was a funny and sudden reaction, but it was pure, and drastically increased my awareness and likeness for the film.
This is a good "think piece". A film that can really provoke some interesting thought, and ideas.
