Leaving aside the accuracy of the movie, I would still say a powerful statement against racism. This is the performance for which Denzel Washington should have Won the Oscar, he just slides into the character so perfectly.
Making you empathize with his plight as Rubin Carter, the black boxer imprisoned on a murder charge.
