Review of The Hunt (2013) by Oscar R — 01 Apr 2013
The three things I knew: 1) Mads Mikkelsen, an actor I had seen before but had not the inclination to explore further, was in it and he won the Best Actor Award at Cannes for it. 2) It was about horrible accusations against a teacher.
So I made up my own assumptions of what I thought I would get upon actually viewing the film. This, I have learned countless times, is pointless and ultimately leads to disappointment. Consequently, I was afflicted with this terrible cinematic disease and "The Hunt" did not deliver as I had hoped, but in one way I was not let down, and that was Mads Mikkelsen's performance which is so restrained yet there's so much anguish one can detect behind those sunken-in, weepy eyes.
This film is an assurance that Mikkelsen is an actor to watch out for because he can only do wonderful things hereafter.
