Review of The Hunger (1983) by Paul T — 06 Nov 2008
Although not a great film, and one that has dated badly, The Hunger is still a special and thoroughly satisfying cinematic delight for me. The cast alone propels it into the stratosphere... I mean, Bowie, Deneuve and Sarandon! Then we have the cinema eroticism 101 scene with Deneuve and her body double seducing Susan Sarandon to the strains of Lakme by Delibes.
It's over-syled and over the top, but it's a super-glamorous train-wreck that you just can't look away from. Guilty pleasure!
