Review of The House of the Devil (2009) by John B — 29 Jul 2010
Ok, so I really loved this movie. Not only is it a nostalgia-free horror flick set in the 80s, but the direction is almost completely devoid of irony. I don't even think you could legitimately use the term "tribute" while reviewing it. Its temporal setting is just another element in the film's style, which is muted, drab, and frequently terrifying. (And if that isn't a perfect description of Reagan-era America, I don't know what is.).
Also kind of interesting for CS people since it references the SRA panic.
