Review of The House of the Devil (2009) by Jared P — 12 Mar 2014
In terms of 80's homage its spot on. Was it necessary to be this truthful to the 80's proverbial structural flaws? I dont care, the exercise in itself is a success. its better than if it had been made in the 80s as it uses those flaws in an innovative way, managing to make something worthy of the 5 minutes following the lead dancing in the house with her headphones on, a faux pas that an original 80s movie would have helplessy committed without knowing it could actually build true tension with it.
The slow unraveling works and the last 15 minutes are flawless..
