I respect The House Of The Devil's effort to build a film off of suspense rather than cheap scares. However, apart from Donahue's portrayal of Samantha, the characters feel one dimensional and under developed.
The payoff would have been so much more effective had the suspense been built off of more than just mindless exploration of an old house.
