Review of The Horse Whisperer (1998) by Frances H — 24 Nov 2012
As a profound lover of horses, I don't know how I allowed myself to bypass this film until now. I guess I thought it would be too slick and Hollywood or too melodramatic, or too long. But The Horse Whisperer was none of these things.
Instead, this movie is outstandingly beautiful and haunting, deeply moving, and I would not cut a single second of it. The cinematography is spectacular, the cast perfect and excellent in their roles, with a fine script that is deep and understated.
This movie is a major achievement in cinema and a moving experience. As with all the great films, there is nothing I would dream of changing.
