Review of The Homesman (2014) by Rhea S — 14 Dec 2014
My husband and I go to the movies every week. I've never written a review before, but the awfulness of this movie compelled me to warn others away. Save your hard-earned money and avoid this one! Please take my advice! This was simply the worst movie I've ever seen.
If you like seeing multiple rape scenes, baby murder, people burned alive, & suicide, then go see it. But I found it to be a dark, unresolved story, with few redeeming qualities. This was a bad plot to begin with, the middle of the film left me (and others in the audience) audibly saying "Whaaaaat?!?".
The woman behind me said "Are you kidding me??" and walked out. It ends without really finishing the story, and ends in such a bizarre way. Everything was soooo disappointing. I expected more because of the a-list cast, but I'm still scratching my head on that one (Did Tommy Lee Jones call Meryl Streep and beg her? Did he call in a favor?).
This was a sad use of my $. Tommy Lee Jones, you owe me $20 and 2 hours of my life.
