Review of The Homesman (2014) by Panos M — 05 Jul 2014
9 years after his excellent debut in direction The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, Tommy Lee Jones is now occupied with a more traditional western. His biggest accomplishment is that he is able to keep an excellent balance between tragic and funny (one scene makes you smile and the next one freezes it) while in the same time he makes moral, social and even economical references to a bleak time period.
The Homesman conclusion doesn't leave any room for hope in an unforgettable final shot.
