Review of The Holy Mountain (1973) by Wade L — 19 Mar 2008
A testament to the transcendent power of the medium, this film is a relic of spirituality and equally a condemmation of everything you know. Unlike Fellini, Jodorowsky's spiritual and metaphisical groundings find a method to his madness, it's not surrealism for artistic sake.
All the pieces are in place and up to the power of the viewer's perception to decode. An experience like no other, to say it's just a film does it disservice. Possibly the most radical film ever made.
