Review of The Hills Have Eyes (1977) by Kyle L — 11 May 2011
Oh my why would Wes Craven go down the hill after The Last House on the Left? Seriously this movie was a total joke compared to the Alexandre Aja remake or the original Last House on the Left. Wes Craven totally went down the hill with this film for one reason.
There is nothing surprising or scary with the original Hills Have Eyes movie. There's nothing scary or creepy at all it is just flat dumb, plain lame and it is not a horror film at all it is more of an action movie than a regular horror film.
This movie doesn't deliver any scares compared to A Nightmare on elm street (1984), The Serpent and The Rainbow and The Last House on the Left (original and the remake). I don't find this scary at all for one reason and Michael Berryman doesn't look scary to me in this film.
All the mutants in this movie aren't scary at all they look more like a group of mental people who escape in an Asylum and seriously the way they react is not scary at all. If you would compare this over the remake I would say the remake was way better than this one because all the mutants in the remake look much more frightening than in the original.
The acting is fine for one reason but anyways I'm gonna give this film a 2/10 because the movie isn't scary, creepy or frightening and the whole movie is flat dumb and plain lame.
