The Help is about a young woman named Eugenia, also known as Skeeter who decides to write a book detailing the African-American maid's point of view on the white families in which they work for. In this book she writes about the hardships they go through.

One of these hardships includes the reality of these maid's raising a white mothers child from an early age, almost as if they are their mother, and then having to see them grow up into a racist themself.

The movie is based on an actual book titled, "The Help" that's right, this is a movie about a book. This was a good idea, which makes this film fresh. The themes in which this film deals with are serious and thought-provoking, yet it surrounds these themes with a feel-good style.

Not only does this film offer a feel good attitude to it, there are some humorous scenes as well. There is even this one scene about a pie that is sure to gross out its audiences, and don't worry this pie scene does not go beyond a PG level so its nothing to offended by.

But is it something to laugh about? Yes it is. The film also gives out some wonderful performances, particularly from Viola Davis and Emma Stone. They're acting levels up the films sense of charm and style.

It was great to see how Viola Davis (being black herself) gave such a strong performance in a movie in which deals with racism among black people. Her performance gives a possitive impact among black people, just as the plot does.

But despite these positive influences, the film reaches beyond the appropriate length that it should be. 146 minutes in total. This running time might disappoint some audiences and cause them to be tired once the film is over.

A movie like this should not have to be as long as this one is. But despite the long length, almost everything else is on the positive side. Just make sure that when you watch this movie, you watch it at an appropriate time.
