Review of The Heiress (1949) by Travis H — 09 Jan 2005
The Heiress is a strong, definite character film, with three perfectly done performances from de Havilland, Richardson, and Hopkins. The combination of these performances with screenplay make the characters and the situations they find themselves in to be very realistic. It starts off a little slow and drawn out before finally delving into the real plot, but it then takes off (as does de Havilland). This was just my second Wyler film, and first in at least three years. It was a nice re-introduction.
