Review of The Haunting (1963) by Cj C — 13 Oct 2008
â??The Hauntingâ?? does have its merits (Davis Boultonâ??s photography is deliciously dark and the sets appropriately creepy) plus an intriguing story, but its potential is ultimately missed. The plot drags until the third act, and Eleanorâ??s frequent internal monologues are unneeded and insulting to the audienceâ??s intelligence.
At least itâ??s better than the 1999 remake (gag)!
