Review of The Haunting (1963) by Joe E — 17 Feb 2018
Great opening! Love the use of shadows and light. As well as the Scooby Doo narrator. I could already tell from the Joshua Light Show type title entry, that I was going to like this movie. Wonderful use of special effects and clever camera techniques.
That house is fucked up! All the noises that go on. Creepy statues and eerie imagery. I can see how this movie probably gave inspiration to the movie Videodrome.
Overall, good movie. Not as good as The Innocents, but it has a good story. I hate comparing movies but this reminded me a lot of The Innocents. The sounds were what made it haunting and psychologically chilling.
