Review of The Haunting (1963) by Hugo F — 02 Oct 2008
Outstanding approach to making something of a genre that can become campy and relish in it. For all its beauty, it is frightening, you will be hooked to the action all of which is emanating from the one woman who experiences the house more acutely than her companions.
The fear comes both from the unexplained influence of hill house on emotion and unusually, mind, both of which take their toll on Eleanor, shattering our mental state just by watching hers fail.
