Review of The Gunman (2015) by Amilcar A — 22 Mar 2015
I might not be the best judge for this movie since I was so tired I was trying not to fall asleep. However, if this movie was better I might have been more motivated to stay awake.
The Gunman is a confusing movie since it's about everything and nothing at the same time. There is action, suspense and some misguided romance but it's never all that good and nothing seems to tie together.
Sean Penn plays a former special ops dude that is not doing dirty jobs for multinational companies in Africa while pretending to be a humanitarian. He takes a page from Liam Neeson and he's a total badass even though he looks old and on steroids.
I think the Gunman was a good attempt to make an action movie and it just got lazy and silly. Certainly not a good movie but it could be enjoyable under the right circumstances.
