Review of The Grey Zone (2001) by Vincent O — 12 Nov 2008
An incredible holocaust drama, that not only deals with the horrific suffering (and human cost) but also depicts the clinical mechanics of the most vile, mass extermination. After viewing, you can fully understand why some enlightened scholars in fact, call Auschwitz the most significant place of the 20th cent' and in all the Death Camp's grim history, this particular (true) story stands out.
Special units were formed to deal with the burning of bodies but after four months they faced being dispatched in the gas chambers themselves. The twelfth and last Hungarian squad decided to up rise, rather than escape and was actually successful.
H. Keitel produced and also stars (reunited) with the incomprable S. Buscemi. just like 'Downfall' showcases the utter madness of a crazed Nazi ideology. A compelling and moving work.
