Review of The Green Mile (1999) by J Brigham H — 20 Jul 2012
Overlong due to some undue meandering, but emotionally potent and features strong performances and interesting ideas. The fantasy angle risks becoming overly ridiculous at times, but Darabont's sentimental style helps to prevent it from being too out of place.
Contains one of the most tremendously horrific execution scenes (or scene of any type of violence) of any film that forces you to just hold on in terror as Darabont once again displays his aptitude for depicting brutality in the midst of sentimental warmth.
