Review of The Green Mile (1999) by Sam F — 15 Jan 2013
In my opinion, one of the best films in history, alongside 'The Shawshank Redemption'. No doubt the film is long, but it is needed to let the characters sit well within the audience's heart, making them love and care for the characters on-screen before the tragic ending.
A perfect recipe for a tear-jerking ending. Michael Clarke Duncan (may he rest in peace) was darling in this film. Tom Hanks, Barry Pepper and the others were great too. Thomas Newman's subtle score was very heartfelt and warm, and potentially tear-jerking in parts as well.
This and 'The Shawshank Redemption' are two of the three best Stephen King film adaptation, thanks to Frank Darabont, the other being 'Misery'. And Stephen King is one of my favourite writers in the world.
Overall, a great film.
