Review of The Green Mile (1999) by Everybody- — 09 Jun 2020
I'd estimate I've seen over 5000 films in my life from multiple countries and continent's and from all era's of film-making, The Green Mile has never been surpassed by any film.
It is at one some point during it's runtime touching, sad, horrific, funny, haunting, provocative and very emotional. A supremely satisfying experience that surpasses The Shawshank Redemption in every way most notably with it's characters who are more colourful and memorable. The acting from everybody is incredible, the score is fantastic and the directing flawless.
It's what cinema is at it's best a great story just like a novel. Totally engrossing for it's entire runtime, if it was a single minute shorter it wouldn't be as good a film, the runtime is a strength not a weakness.
