Review of The Green Knight (2021) by Bigdingus — 01 Aug 2021

I'm usually fairly generous and forgiving, able to find good and see the best in a lot of films, but this one was incredibly difficult. I wouldn't say it's "bad," but it's definitely not entertaining. If you go to see movies for reasons other than entertainment, there's a chance you may appreciate it. If you're a fan of movies that offer little to no answers to anything, lack any real conflict, and just want to watch a guy walk from point A to point B, this movie will be tolerable. There's barely any dialogue, it moves slowly, the characters are mostly expressionless, and the plot is based entirely on whether or not a guy will commit to following through on one choice.

Is he brave enough, or will he chicken out? You at least find that out, but then that's it. Nothing more to it. But hey, if you like to find deeper meaning in the allegory or the themes sprinkled around, have at it. It was a disappointment to me, but to each their own.
