Review of The Green Inferno (2013) by Bryan F — 28 Sep 2015
The Fitz of Horror review for Eli Roth's The Green Inferno-- ( No spoilers )--.
After seeing The Green Inferno last night, I left the theater with great satisfaction.
It was about 90% political satire and 10% gore/horror ( much like Dawn of The Dead).
It started off a little " iffy" because of an irritating actress who thank god is only in the first 15 minutes of the movie. From there, we can see that Eli Roth has certainly developed his own style of horror.
There is a healthy dose of humor mixed with an even healthier dose of gore and terror, not to mention that there is always something that won't allow us to totally hate the cannibals in the movie.
I know people wanted a humorless straight up horror movie ( which is what I wanted) but as I mentioned before, Eli Roth has now established his own brand of horror. As with Cabin Fever and Hostel, he sprinkles humor in with his brutal horror style and it works!
The cinematography was great (minus a few shaky camera moments) and the score of this film was beautiful and haunting, much like that of Cannibal Holocaust's, and kept the intensity up throughout the movie.
It's not your typical "stupid, horny teens getting slaughtered " movie that keeps getting churned out by Hollywood, it's a thought provoking, no holds barred cannibal movie for our generation!
I believe the simple moral of the story is:
DON'T START NO SHIT, THERE WOULDN'T BE NO SHIT!!
( you'll know what I mean when you see the movie).
I give it an 8/10 and I will be owning a copy the day it hits Blu Ray!!
