The first movie I ever saw in the movie theater! I was about 10. It gave me nightmares. I thought I loved this movie because it was about Jesus. When I saw it again as an adult, I could not believe how extremely dull it was.
Max Von Sydow was simply terrible as Jesus. He never smiled and seemed like a man with no life or personality. Looking back, I think I have liked all the other actors who have played Jesus more. After seeing this and also Jesus Of Nazareth (TV Miniseries), I have always thought that the best film about Jesus' life was simply called, "Jesus".
That film has been translated into many languages and is shown all over the world. It is also taken from the book of Luke and follows the Bible very closely.
