Review of The Greatest Showman (2017) by Leah M — 21 Mar 2018
I understand what some have said about the movie glamorizing P.T. Barnum and ignoring some of his controversies in real life, but I think to look at a historical event such as this with the lens of current times is just foolish.
Of course now we know that a lot of what Barnum did was wrong, but I think we can all agree that a lot of the movie is fictionalized so why even focus on that. The P.T. Barnum in this movie is far more a fictional character than a dramatization of a real man.
The songs were catchy and the storyline was very cute. I definitely think more attention was put into coming up with songs and less into coming up with a cohesive plot to accompany them, but I still found the movie very enjoyable.
One of my favorites I've seen recently.
