Review of The Greatest Showman (2017) by Gary W — 13 Apr 2018
Percussive dance numbers and top notch music make this a marvelous retelling of the making of the "Greatest Show on Earth". I loved the sets and costumes as well but It still left me thinking of how it could have been great. The story lapses at times and the poor boy makes good aspect seemed forced and overplayed. The performances by Michelle Williams as his wife, Zac Efron as his apprentice and Zendaya as the trapeze artist that steals Zac's heart were all stellar. Most noteworthy was Keala Settle as Lettie Lutz (The Bearded Lady).
Very close but no cigar.
