Review of The Great Silence (1968) by James O — 21 Jun 2007
Stunning, brilliant Spaghetti Western, filmed in a winter setting, with the most brutal ending to a film ever.
More enjoyable with the Italian language switched on and English subtitles on.
Brilliant score from Ennio Morricone and great performance from both leads, lots of different little stories going on in the film. Some of the editing is a bit ropey but its a very good film and Jean-Louis Trintignant is so cool you want to be him.
