Review of The Great Raid (2005) by Victor G — 23 Sep 2007
The Pacific front of WWII never seems to get as much screen time as the European front, and this movie was long overdue in that respect. A real-life version of "Saving Private Ryan" about a battalion of U.
S. troops going on a suicide mission to free survivors of the Bataan Death March, who were certain to be massacred as the Japanese lines continued to fallback. Not the best war movie in the world, but it got me a lot more teary-eyed than "Private Ryan" did.
