Review of The Great Raid (2005) by Lyda M — 28 Sep 2009
"Some things you gotta take on faith." Based on true historical events. The 6th Ranger Batallion with little or no combat experience whatsoever was given a mission in faith by Lt. Col. Henry Mucci (Benjamin Bratt) to rescue the 500 American prisoners of war in Cabanatuan held by the Japanese.
This rescue mission remains to be the most successful in U.S. military history thanks to Captain Robert Prince (James Franco) who planned it all. Action-packed. Suspenseful. Adrenaline-rush. Perfection storytelling.
Slight amiss in casting. Compelling musical score. One of the best soldier movies I've ever seen. James Franco is one versatile actor. Directed by the surprising John Dahl.
