Review of The Great McGinty (1940) by Chrisanne S — 20 Dec 2008
Fast paced, but relatively gentle politcal satire. Curruption, racketeering, arranged marriages and organised crime may seem a strange catalogue of subjects for what is essentially light entertainment, but Sturges ties them together in a wry, spry and very funny film that never feels judgemental of its subjects or patronising of its audience.
