Charles Chaplin's first full-length talking picture, THE GREAT DICTATOR is, in my opinion, Chaplin's best film. In it, he plays Adenoid Hynkel, the Hitler-like character of the title, and a Jewish Barber, who may or may not be his famous Little Tramp, depending on who you ask (I say it is).

Audiences weren't quite ready for this film in 1940. Looking back on it now, we see how right Chaplin was in a lot of aspects of it which Americans didn't know about or understand at the time.

The film is hilarious, dramatic, and poignant every step of the way. A true classic of filmmaking.
