Review of The Great Buck Howard (2008) by Matt L — 13 Mar 2010
I'm not sure why this movie didn't work well for me. I can tell the critics really liked it, which usually means I will too, but I found the film hokey and unfunny. There are moments of cuteness and sincerity but the overall picture just came off stale to me.
Malkovich is great, as always, but his character is ridiculous and I never developed any sympathy for him. Hanks is bleh and when Tom Hanks, who produced the film, showed up as, guess who, Colin's father, I just got ill.
Blunt is attractive but didn't really add anything to the story. I wish I'd skipped this one.
