Review of The Great Beauty (2013) by Ian R — 18 Mar 2014
Stunning, exquisite, a twisting, swirling, glide through the decadent emptiness of contemporary Rome (or any late capitalist society). as beautiful as the title suggests, yet the growing melancholy that lives in Rome's ancient streets and ruins seeps up through the frames and the brilliant performance fro Toni Servillo, presenting us with an existentialist masterpiece that should be seen by everyone.
reminded me of La Dolce Vita, Roma, La Notte and made my eyes feel like they were seeing anew.
